Hanging with the Famous!

Books are my thing. I love to read more than I love to write. Oliver seems to like books too!

So this summer has brought a few of my favorite authors to my hometown. Of course, I had to go and meet them! Truly I'm not a stalker!

In June I caught up with these authors:

Jim Rubart who wrote the exciting and a bit scary
book titled Rooms.

The famous red head Brandilyn Collins who was signing her newest book Deceit: A Novel. Isn't that a great tittle?

Tosca Lee was there too! Her books are amazing. They really make you think about how the world was started.

Then just a few weeks ago I met and had lunch with Patti Lacy! She is a fascinating person to talk too. She'd just returned from China. I also met someday to be famous S. Hartman another writer who lives close by.
I picked up Patti's An Irishwoman's Tale and it was riveting! You could feel the tension and pull of Mary trying to decide if she belonged in America or Ireland. I learned quite a bit about Ireland that I wasn't aware of that helped me make sense of my own background.

What the Bayou Saw: A Novel is also an excellent read. And if you look closely at my bookshelf with Oliver you'll see her book on one of my 'keeper" shelves.

All of these authors write in different genres and each of their books have been able to take me places I haven't been.

  1. Oh, you are so sweet!
It's funny because I recently featured Jim and Tosca and we were all blabbing back and forth.

    Fun! Fun!

But only in God's eyes am I grouped with that cast you've highlighted.

  2. oh my, I hope God groups us all together. And you do belong with that group. :)

  3. Hi there! I just came over from Patti Lacy's blog. You're so lucky to have so many authors visit your town!

  4. I just love Patti's books and so enjoyed getting to know her through her blog. She is a treasure as a friend and a writer.

I will have to check out some of the other books which you mentioned which I haven't read yet. I have a book addiction too!

  5. I love Patti Lacy!! How lucky you are to have met all those great writers! I think writers are cooler than rock stars and movie stars by a mile. ;)

  6. Sigh, yes, I love books too. It's an addiction, though I could think of worse ones. It's a good thing your new family addition likes books too. :)

I love hanging out with authors. They are some of the coolest people on the planet. Can't wait to read Patti Lacy's newest!

  7. Wow, what a fun way to get started with my day! So many comments from Patti's fans! Love it! I wish you could all sit and have lunch with her. She is like an instant 'old' best friend.

  8. I'm not famous. That's the other Jim Rubart. I hope to meet him someday.

It was so fun to see you, Diana!

  9. Ah Jim, come on that was the real Jim--and famous. :)

  10. Missin' you and hoping your at a writers retreat (even self-imposed)!!

    Blessings, dear one.

  11. Ah Patti, real life sometimes comes calling at your door. :) But have no fear there is a new post this morning. :)
